Scalekit raises $5.5M to launch authentication stack for AI agents

San Francisco | 16th September, 2025

Scalekit, built by the team behind Freshworks’ auth platform, today announced the general availability of its authentication stack purpose-built for AI agents, alongside a $5.5 million seed round. The round was led by Together Fund and Z47, with participation from operator-angels including Adam Frankl, Oliver Jay, and Jagadeesh Kunda.

Satya Devarakonda and Ravi Madhabhushi, the founders of Scalekit.

For two decades, identity systems assmed a human would log in to software. The next wave is different: AI agents invoking business apps and APIs, on behalf of users or autonomously. Gartner predicts that by 2028, one in four enterprise breaches will trace back to compromised AI agents. Yet today’s identity stacks still assume browser logins and manual logouts. Developers are forced to over-privilege agents or stitch together brittle workarounds.

Satya Devarakonda, co-founder and CEO says "For years, software focused on blocking bots. But now, business apps must let authenticated agents in and decide exactly what data they can read or write, Scalekit sits at that intersection of verifying every agent's identity and enforcing precise, least-privilege access through a single drop-in toolkit."

“After scaling auth for 50,000+ businesses at Freshworks, we saw the next challenge coming: identities that live in code, not user directories. Scalekit delivers short-lived scoped tokens and plug-in tooling that make agentic workflows secure.” Ravi Madabhushi, co-founder and CTO, Scalekit adds.

“Auth is one of those invisible layers of software: you only notice it when it fails. Getting it right for a world of autonomous agents is a non-negotiable challenge. Satya and Ravi bring lessons of building auth for tens of thousands of enterprises, and the ambition to reimagine it for the AI era.” says Pranay Desai, Managing Director at Z47.

Girish Mathrubootham, Founding Partner, Together Fund: "AI agents are emerging as first-class users of business software, and current identity stacks can't keep up. Scalekit spotted the shift early and built the missing agent identity infrastructure. We believe that foundation will power the next billion agent identities."

Scalekit’s stack is designed to be plug-and-play for developers navigating the new world of agentic workflows. Instead of hand-coding fragile token flows, teams can spin up secure OAuth 2.1 servers in minutes and give agents the ability to safely act on behalf of users across apps like Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, and Notion. The result: developers get to focus on AI features, while Scalekit handles the identity plumbing that keeps agents both powerful and contained.

Alongside agent identity, Scalekit offers à-la-carte auth modules, that drop into apps in minutes, letting developers ship auth upgrades with no forklift migration.

  • Two-factor authentication
  • SSO, and
  • Machine-to-machine service tokens

As enterprises prepare for millions of autonomous agents to join the workforce, identity will be the thin layer deciding whether those interactions are safe or catastrophic. Scalekit is building that layer from day zero. With fresh capital, deep experience, and an ambitious roadmap, the team is positioned to become the standard for agent identity worldwide.
